Understanding Buddhism: An Evening with Dr. Alan Fox

On Thursday, March 21, at 7:00PM, University of Delaware Professor Dr. Alan Fox will provide an introduction to Buddhist traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices. The second session on comparative religion hosted by Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church as part of its Vision 2020 Series, this event is FREE and open to the community.

Although it is one of the world’s major spiritual traditions, many of Buddhism’s essential principles and practices are grossly misunderstood. During this discussion, Dr. Fox will clarify the origins and basic principles of Indian Buddhism and indicate its paths of transmission.

As Professor of Asian and Comparative Philosophy and Religion at the University of Delaware, Dr. Fox is ideally suited to provide a compelling and objective program, respectful of a religion practiced by more than 535 million people worldwide (8-10% of the world's total population).

For all those concerned with human welfare, dignity, peace, and fulfillment, Understanding Buddhism will provide a strong foundation for cooperative, constructive, and positive interaction.

Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church is located on Route 52 at 101 Old Kennett Rd, Wilmington, DE 19807, across from Winterthur, within easy driving distance of northern Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania. There is plenty of free parking. And the building is accessible to the handicapped. (Please call in advance to set up a liaison.)

Attendees are encouraged to ‘come as they are.’ This event will be held in the church’s social hall. Refreshments will be served. There will be plenty of time for questions from the audience.

RSVPs are appreciated for capacity planning at, but not necessary.
