On Thursday, January 17, 2019, the #CLOSEthecreek Community Town Hall will focus on community re-investment and holding the city officials accountable for re-investing the money saved from closing the House fo Corrections back into communities in Philadelphia directly impacted by mass incarceration. Our goal is to bring community members together with city officials in a dialogue that is centered on the acquisition of working capital that is needed to develop communities that have been decimated by crime, violence, addiction, neglect, unemployment, and mass incarceration. We seek to establish a high priority partnership with the city that allows community leaders to take ownership of their lives and neighborhoods by a commitment from the city to provide re-investment dollars, acces to properties, and oversight over the resources allocated to their neighborhoods. We believe that communities have the ability to determine their own trnsformation with access to resources that the city can provide. This Community Town Hall is the first step towards actualizing that vision. Invited city officials include the Mayor's Office, City Council, the District Attorney's Office, The Public Defender's Office, and the office of the City Comptroller. Additionally, community leaders will join in a panel discussion to share the concerns of their community as well as their  vision for a brighter future for community empowerment and transformation. This Town Hall will create a space for the voices of the community to be heard and to have their needs met by engaging directly with the decision makers who impact our lives.
