Naturalist, Keara R. Giannotti and Master Gardener, Danielle Giannotti will be giving a talk & tour on the Monarch butterfly and its relationship with milkweed, including how planting milkweed in backyards can help Monarchs on their annual migration to wintering grounds in Mexico. The program will include information about other pollinators in the garden, as well as good nectaring plants. After the talk we'll explore the Camden County Environmental Center educational gardens and look for monarch caterpillars and other insects, and enjoy the plants that are in bloom.

      Background:
Keara R. Giannotti is a Rutgers Environmental Steward, and the Executive Director of Project HEAL (Human, Environmental & Animal Links), a nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing and restoring the connection between children and nature. The organization provides year-round nature programs for children and adults, environmental education programs for schools and scouts, and an outdoor summer day camp called Camp Creek Run, which is also the name of its 50-acre nature preserve located in Marlton, NJ. Ms. Giannotti loves talking about nature with people almost as much as she enjoys exploring it, and has a particular interest in birding, insects, fungi, and forest ecology.
Danielle Giannotti is a Rutgers Master Gardener and the Assistant Director & Family Liaison for Project HEAL @ Camp Creek Run. When she's not leading classes or tours at camp, you'll find her beautifying the camp gardens, gardening for wildlife by planting native plants, and building fairy houses.
