Creating an Accessible Experience for Spaulding Rehabilitation Network Leah Rosing, Principal, User Research & Insights at Hero DigitalWally Zielinski, Manager, Front End Engineering at Hero DigitalBrooke Kelly, Senior Business Analyst at Hero Digital Go behind the scenes of the site redesign for Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, a leading healthcare system in Massachusetts. The goal: a totally accessible website for patients with varying abilities. The barriers: challenging brand colors, complicated "level of care" tables, and important multimedia elements. Through extensive user research and a collaborative internal approach to design and development, the new Spaulding site is as beautiful and engaging as it is accessible. We look forward to sharing our key takeaways about the accessibility process and share how to overcome similar challenges at PhillyCHI members' organizations. Knowing Our Worth: the Philly Design Compensation Census Lauren Hallden, Lead Product Designer at StitchTony Nguyen, Design Lead at ComcastDan Singer, Senior Experience Designer at Think Company As members of the design community, our team recognized a recurring theme for Philly designers: when it comes to compensation, we’re all left a little lost – especially new designers and those in underrepresented groups. We all had personal experience with that uncertainty and knew many others who faced the same. The Philly Design Compensation Census is a project we created to support our community in understanding our worth to employers and becoming better advocates for our peers. We knew from the start that this was going to be a sensitive topic. In this talk we’ll discuss our overall approach and the challenges we faced while designing the experience and methodology. How Digital Designers Created a Physical Space Dan Busey, Senior Vice President, Design at Think CompanyMark Schuber, Vice President, Experience Design at Think Company As digital product designers, we're very comfortable thinking in pixels and code. When Think Company had the opportunity to expand our Center City studio, we thought it would be fun to see if our approach to digital design could be applied when designing a physical space. We'll walk through the principles and processes we developed, along with the lessons learned. Join us to hear about and see the tangible outcome IRL. A Very Special Thanks To Our 2019 Sponsors
